As the name suggests, irregular rhythm in heart beat is called arrhythmia. Our heart normally beats 100 times in a minute and in children it is slight less.In case of arrhythmia some irregularities are found which need to be diagnosed properly. These irregular beats result in arrhythmia and is a serious disease among many people in present time.

The whole system is that the pacemaker of our heart sends tiny electrical signals or impulses which triggers the flow of blood to the rest part of the body. The signals make the heart contract and heart pumps blood. The rhythmic contraction and relaxation of the heart chambers supply blood to the body regularly. In case of arrhythmia this system gets disturbed.Basically the electrical signal controlling the blood flow gets affected and become too slow, too high or even irregular. So, this leads to arrhythmia.

Some of the classical symptoms of heart Arrhythmia are: palpitations, fainting, shortness of breath, chest pain, and dizziness. Though these are the symptoms they may not occur even in the serious Arrhythmia. Palpitations such as missed beats, butterflies, thumps, skips, racing or fluttering may be experienced by some people. They may be come in single or in multiple beats or may be felt any where from the stomach to head. Generally people get aware of the palpitation when going to sleep usually when they lie on the left side. Since at this time, they are silent, they may hear a drum beat sound.

The physician or the nurse may perform the diagnosis by testing blood, do a ECG( Electrocardiogram) and use heart monitor to which access the heat rate or beat.

Treatment of Arrhythmia: Treatment of arrhythmia is done by treatment of underlying disorder if it is caused by disease. Drugs are used for the treatment of rhythm disorder. As maximum cases of arrhythmia is treated with the drugs, Arrhythmia can also degrade the condition to 5 to 10%. Heart Arrhythmia disorder usually occur in sick people so the drugs of it are given in the hospital first. They are measured using EKG(Electrocardiogram), Holter monitor, telemeter, or electrophysiology studies.

Automatic Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (AICD): In 1980, a new approach was invented which was tested in human. The AICD houses a wallet sized case which again contain pulse generator. The treatment in this is based on the traditional cardioversion which contains two paddles which are connected to the external generator used to convert disordered rhythm to a normal one.

Fast heart beat is defined as heart beat rate that is faster than usual. The heart generally beats less than 100 times per minute among adults. In a child the beat rate may be slightly more than 100 but it is considered as normal. The question is why the increased beat rate occurs?Under normal conditions we are relaxed. But when we do exercise, undergo any panic, worry or anxiety the beat rate increases. It becomes more than the normal rate.

A person with fast heart beat may not have any symptoms. But sometime he may feel something very uncomfortable and some indications.Such indications of fast heart beat can be listed as below:

1. Palpitations

2. Sweating at higher rate

3. Shortness of breathe

4. Dizziness,nausea and vomiting

5. Fatigue

6. Getting tired by small activities

There are many possible causes of fast heart beat. The important causes among all the causes are:

1. Exercise and lifting of heavy materials

2. Worries,fear,pain,anxiety

3. Dehydration

4. Little intake of food or loss of blood.

5. Hypo tension: The blood level in the body is too low.

6. Hyperthyroid:A level is reached when the thyroid hormone in the body becomes too high.

7. Diseases like asthma and anemia, emphysema.

8. Excessive caffeine intake may also lead to fast heart beat rate.

9. Diabetes is also a major cause to increase the beat rate.

10. Peripheral Neuropathy:Damages the nerve attached to heart so that heart beat rate increases.

If the problems persists for long time the heart may get damaged and can not pump blood properly. You may be shocked to know that fast heart beat rate due to arrhythmia can lead to death of a person.

To prevent this problem we have to view the cause. The most dangerous thing is that many causes can not be prevented. In that case. In many cases regular exercise is suggested by the doctors. But one must avoid drugs or alcohol to relieve complete from this disorder. Also drinking water and other liquids will reduce dehydration which in turn reduces the increased beat rate.We also have to avoid smoking and chewing tobacco to overcome this disorder completely.

The speed of heart beat can always be checked with ears or stethoscope. So, you must consult a good doctor if the problem is diagnosed within you.Regularly follow the advice given by the doctor and it is not difficult to get rid of fast beat rate.

Now a days everybody wants to listen to his heartbeat. Obviously, this is very common. This article explains in detail how to accomplish this easily.Well, listening to heart beat can be done in two ways. You can use either stethoscope or other listening devices such as fetal Doppler which is used to hear baby’s heart beat. The other way is using your ears to listen to the heart beat.General people may not have access to stethoscope or other hearing aids. So,in that case listening to heart beat with ears is the good.

Here, we will discuss how to hear your heart beats effectively with the help of a stethoscope.

The very first step is checking the tube of the stethoscope to ensure it does not have any cracks and wipe the ear pieces with little bit of alcohol or other cleansing liquids.

Put the earpieces into your ears properly so that they will fit well. There is a curve in the earpiece.Make sure that it lies parallel to the outer curve of your ear. However, it should not be aligned perpendicular to the ear.

The chest piece of the stethoscope should be held properly and firmly in your hand.

Simply the rub the chest piece of the device smoothly. This is done to make it warm before placing it directly on the skin of your chest.

If you want to hear the heart beat then place the chest piece two inches above the left nipple.

You must hold it properly with your index and middle fingers.

The stethoscope must hang free and it should not touch any of your body parts. Listen carefully for a “Lub Dub” sound. Did you listen that?Yes,that is the heart beat and you are done with it!Was not that easy?

If the heart beat is not clear then please pick up the chest piece and place it again. But do not drag it on the chest.

In case you do not have any stethoscope with you then simply place your ear on the person’s chest and if you hear properly then the Lub Dub sound will be audible.

At the end there are some precautions you must take while using the stethoscope:

1.Do not speak through the device. It may damage the hearing.
2.You should hang the stethoscope because if there is any kink it may produce cracks.

Though you can hear the heart beat with ears only, it is not possible to diagnose the heart abnormalities without a stethoscope.
